2019 is an important year for GCD, we’re celebrating 20 years in business, we reached the milestone of 30 team members and have continued to grow! We thought it would be a great time to introduce the latest recruits, Harry, Colin, Melissa, Sean and Aiobhin, and get to know them in their own words.
Harry graduated with a degree in Software Engineering, and after spending 10 months farming decided to finally get an actual graduate job, he’s now a Graduate Software Developer at GCD. Aside from work, he tries to spend as much time as possible outdoors after working inside during the week, this normally ends up with him being roped into farm work. He enjoys hiking and visiting new places when he gets the chance to, as well as gaming, he mainly plays PC games but will play pretty much anything and once in a blue moon you might even find him at the gym.
Sean returned to GCD after his placement here as a Graduate Software Developer, he likes to describe his job role as programming and fixing broken things. Some of his favourite languages include javascript/typescript and php and he is a big fan of React, Redux technologies. Outside of work he loves to run Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and is GCD’s very own Dungeon Master, he also enjoys writing, playing with React and playing waaaaay too many strategy games.
Next up is Colin, he has joined GCD as our Project Manager and will be our client’s representative within GCD. A recently repatriated expat who has lived and worked in the USA and India, Colin now lives in Larne; he has worked in IT for 23 years and has been a Project Manager since 2006 and certified as PMP since 2013. One of the very interesting things about Colin, is that he is a talented Tenor and has performed the US National Anthem with his choir before baseball and hockey matches! He loves watching hockey (Go Giants!), Formula 1 and Rodeo.
Melissa has joined the GCD marketing team, her role will focus on all marketing streams for GCD, helping to spread the good news about what we do. She specialises in engaging content across digital and traditional forms, a passion that leaks into her personal life where she is currently writing her first book! When her life isn’t dominated by three dogs and three cats, she enjoys yoga, gaming (mostly PS4) and reading anything and everything fantasy. Thanks to Sean and the other gaming enthusiasts at GCD, she has finally taken up Dungeons & Dragons and is loving it so far.
Aoibhin is our student intern working in the QA team for 6 months, she is focusing mainly on writing automated tests for our Fundraising CRM, Chariteer. She hails from Greencastle (not the one in Belfast or Donegal) and enjoys going to concerts and festivals, she’s also a firm film & history enthusiast.
