3rd October 2014

All at GCD would like to extend its warm congratulations to Sean, Leona and the rest of the team at Plotbox for winning the Invent 2014 award, announced at a prestigious gala dinner in Titanic Belfast last night.

In a tightly contested competition run by Northern Ireland Science Park (NISP) CONNECT , Plotbox battled it out against 92 other innovations, whittled down from the top 24 in May to the 12 finalists in last night’s awards, with Plotbox announced as the most promising innovation with world class potential at the prestigious gala dinner.

The Invent 2014 award is the latest in a long line of recognition for the Plotbox software, which GCD has been developing for Plotbox and is soon ready for launch in the UK and Ireland. On Tuesday night Plotbox also won the award for Best Exhibitor at the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) Convention, to cap off a fantastic week.

As part of the Invent 2014 award, Plotbox will be heading to San Francisco and San Diego in December on a week-long tech mission, with the death industry in the US estimated at a staggering $20 billion annually.

Plotbox is web-based software hosted in the cloud that enables crematoriums and cemeteries to manage operations on a day-to-day basis. The aim is to build a comprehensive genealogical records database that can then be used by the public to research ancestry history.
